Highlanders Fall to McMinn Central, Suffer First Loss of the Season

The Scott High Highlanders faced a tough setback Friday night, falling 41–14 to district rival McMinn Central High School. After opening the season strong, this marked the Highlanders’ first loss of the year.

McMinn Central’s offense proved difficult to contain, steadily building a lead that Scott High was unable to overcome. Despite the final score, several Highlanders turned in standout performances on the field.

Player of the Game honors went to Braden Burchfield, who delivered his best game of the season as the team’s leading tackler. His relentless defensive effort kept the Highlanders fighting throughout the night. On the line, Gus King earned Lineman of the Game recognition for his steady presence and grit in the trenches.

While the scoreboard didn’t favor Scott High, the team showed resilience and determination against a strong district opponent. The Highlanders will look to regroup quickly as they prepare for the next challenge on their schedule.
