Madison Buckert and Ryan Byrd

Two Scott High students have distinguished themselves in regional competitions showcasing their skills.

Madison Buckert has been selected for the prestigious All-State East Tennessee Regional Band following a rigorous audition process. The event, drawing band and orchestra students from across the region, saw participants performing in front of seasoned judges who assessed their proficiency in scales, a prepared piece, and sightreading. Madison's audition secured her a notable position as the 18th best horn player in East Tennessee. The regional honor band later convened in Gatlinburg, where they delivered a concert for the public.

Ryan has earned a coveted spot in the Festival of Winds and Percussion at Tennessee Tech through an equally demanding audition process. Students vying for inclusion in this event were tasked with mastering a specific piece of music and submitting a recording of their performance to music professors at Tennessee Tech. These professors meticulously evaluated the recordings, placing students into honor bands based on their exceptional musical abilities. The selected bands gathered in Cookeville, dedicating two days to rehearsing before treating audiences to a concert.

Both Madison and Ryan's achievements testify not only to their talent and dedication but also to the music education programs at Scott High School. Their successes underscore the importance of nurturing young musicians and providing opportunities for them to showcase their passion and skill on a broader stage.
