Highlanders Make History With First Win Over Austin-East in 28 Years
The Scott High Highlanders turned in a dominant performance Friday night, defeating the Austin-East Roadrunners 42–6 and securing their first victory over the Knoxville powerhouse in nearly three decades. The win moves Scott High to a perfect 3–0 start to the season and marks a milestone moment for Highlander football.
Game Highlights
Scott High’s defense stole the spotlight, led by Player of the Game, Micah Boles. Boles delivered a career night with two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a crucial fourth-down pass break-up, and another pass break-up in the end zone to shut down the Roadrunners’ scoring opportunities.
In the trenches, Lineman of the Game, Jayden Parra, came up big with a key block that opened the lane for quarterback Gage Privett to secure a first down in the first half. That play set up a touchdown drive that fueled the Highlanders’ early momentum.
From there, Scott High’s offense and defense worked in sync, keeping Austin-East on its heels and putting together one of the program’s most convincing wins in recent memory.
Community Spirit
Friday’s matchup was about more than just football. Before kickoff, the Highlander faithful paused to honor childhood cancer fighters, Emma Hughett and Jolee Manis, recognizing their courage and strength in front of a packed home crowd.
Halftime brought plenty of excitement as the Little Cheer Highlanders took the field to perform the routine they mastered during their summer cheer camp. Their spirited performance earned roaring applause and added to the family atmosphere of the night.
Looking Ahead
With the 42–6 victory, the Highlanders not only improved to 3–0 but also made a statement about the direction of the program. Breaking a 28-year drought against Austin-East signals that Scott High’s hard work, grit, and community support are paying off.
The Highlanders will now turn their attention to their next matchup, carrying the momentum of a historic win into the rest of the season.
