What is HOSA? HOSA is a national organization that engages students who are interested in a future in health care or students who just love to compete! We have a school chapter, a regional chapter, and a state chapter as well. We do community service, competitions (the super-fun stuff), and students can even earn scholarships to college with HOSA. And yes, active participation in HOSA looks great on a college application.
What is required of me to join? First, you have to be in good standing with the school. HOSA will not accept students who are failing multiple subjects or who have behavior issues. HOSA has many opportunities for off-campus trips, and only students who deserve these privileges will be included. Second, you have to be an active member. HOSA is not for students who do not want to participate.
How can I participate in HOSA? There are 4 ways, and you must choose at least 2, but preferably 3. First, you can help fundraise. We have different opportunities. Second, you can compete. HOSA hosts regional and state and national competitions each year, and there are multiple ways to compete (and not all of them require public speaking, so relax!) There are individual competitions and group competitions, if you choose to compete, you MUST also participate in fundraising! The third way you can participate is through community service. We will hopefully have opportunities that we will be discussing with you soon.
